Passaic-NJ (6-7) People Prep pummeled Passaic Charter (10-3) 49-32 at Sabatini Gym in Passaic. Passaic had a difficult time defending the Prep terrible three Trevon Davis, Zyaire Thompson, and Dayveon Dore.

The Prep’s Trevon Davis set the tone for his team early scoring their first 6 points of the game and made his presence by known on the glass.

“ I’m not going to lie their length and agility was a problem for us today. Every time we made a run at them, we forgot the little things like boxout, hit the boards. They are a very solid team who pushes the tempo to force you to make mistakes. Today we just made too many errors in this game.” Passaic Charter Guard Quason Austin.

Prep is one of the best team in the county put together one of its most dominant games during this run, quickly squashing any ideas of Passaic Charter making a come back. PASA shot a dismal 20.7% in the first half and could not get on track to keep up with the quicker and physical Prep team. Passaic was completely overmatched turning the ball over 12 times in the first half.

The Prep turned up the full court pressure in the second quarter, converting turnovers and missed shots into quick layups. Prep penetrated Passaic’s defense, which entered this season giving up just 45.7 points a game. Prep was relentless on the boards and took a 22-17 halftime lead. Passaic Jeffery Reynso kept the game close at the break with his clutch shooting, pesky defense swiping a few steals and converting them into points (8 points & 3 assists).

The Prep amped up the pressure in the second half as PP extended its advantage to 12 in a hurry. Passaic couldn’t regroup from the intense pressure employed by the Prep. Trevon Davis finished the game with 16 points, 8 rebounds, Dayveon Dore 10 points, 2 rebounds and Zyaire Thompson chipped in as well with 6 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

Passaic Charter leading scorers of the game was Jeffery Reynso 13 points, 7 assists and Emanuel Ramirez with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
