In my mind Joseph has to rank one of the top two guard prospects in Westchester County. In person, Joseph Jones already looks like he is ready to compete on the next level. In person, he not only plays like a big time guard but also plays defense with the same intensity. There is little weakness in his game. Jones is an exceptional hard worker, shows the ability to take coaching, and play with great pad level in a small space.
Jones impressed recruiters with his physical style play against the Somers Tuskers. Joseph is a very physical 7th grade offensive lineman that is making his presence be known. This young student athlete stands 5’2 150 lbs. from New Rochelle, NY and loves to play physical on every down.
Jones was very impressive against the Tuskers in the 20-12 lost. On offense Joseph had seven pancake blocks and on defense he was a very disruptive force causing the Tuskers to account for his presence all game long. I was most impressed with his long arms, the violent hands, the agility and his natural knee bend you rarely see at this age group. Jones is strong enough to handle bull rushers; he shows excellent technique throughout the game and is a coach on the field.
4.0 Sports Media caught up with Jones after his game versus the Somers. “We didn’t play well in the first half at all. We started to get on a roll in the second half but every time we were driving we shot ourselves in the foot with penalties and missed tackles on defense. We couldn’t recovered from that and we came up short.” Jones said.
Recruiters love how Jones comes out of his stance with purpose and aggression and dominates the point of attack. Joseph is a premier guard prospect who gets better with every game and has proven to be a good positional blocker. He’s an athlete who can effectively block out on the second level. JJ does a great job of finishing his blocks and is tenacious as they come. Stay tuned!
