It was a beautiful chilly dawn on January 28th when wrestlers, coaches, parents, family and friends traveled down the beautiful mountains of Santa Rosa to attend the 19th Annual Puma Classic at Maria Carrillo High School.

Only  the most successful teams in the Northern California region are invited to the Puma Classic. Teams in attendance at this years event included: Alhambra, Amador Valley, Analy, Castro Valley, Coalinga, College Park, Dougherty Valley, El Molino, Elsie Allen, Ft. Bragg, Granada, Healdsburg, Hoopa, Inderkum, Kelseyville, Las Lomas, Livermore, Maria Carillo, Maria Carrillo 2, Maria Carillo 3, Middletown, Mission San Jose, Northgate, Petaluma, Pt. Arena, Santa Rosa, St. Bernards, Sutter Union, Ukiah, Upper Lake, Vacaville, Willits, Winters and of course Washington High School from Fremont.

The Washington High School “Huskies”  landed 15th place with a score of 40.50 out of 34 teams that competed in the tourney.

The Vacaville Bulldogs garnered a total score of 306.5 taking home the first place crown. Amador Valley followed with a score of 135 finishing 2nd, Maria Carrillo scored 128.5 finishing 3rd, Sutter Union ended 4th with a score of 125 and Ukiah ended 5th scoring 115.5

The prestigious Puma Classic was again a huge success. It was a full house of action packed competition from the beginning until the end.

Indeed, it was the battle of the best of the best… So, congratulations to all the champions in their respective brackets
